At the October 21st Guild meeting, Judi Coté spoke about the Community Service guild project for November. Since that time, Judi has heard from the City of Edmonton’s Affordable Housing and Homelessness, Citizen Services Department, Social Services Branch. They welcome our offer of pillow cases to give to the people using the temporary pandemic shelter at the Edmonton Conference Centre this winter. They are working out a process for receiving donations from various organizations and will get back to her with that information.
Any pattern you use for a standard size pillowcase is fine. Judi requests that it be washed in scent free detergent and placed in a large zip lock bag. Bring it to the FFAA Studio (9532-87 St. NW, Edmonton) on Tuesday, November 10th between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. If you are not able to drop off at that time please call Judi Coté at 780-436-4392 to arrange a pick up or drop off at her home at 10637-25A avenue NW, Edmonton before November 10th if possible.
The Community Service Team will also be receiving quilts that day that could be used for people being placed in apartments and possibly the Give Me Shelter Campaign which is organized by Global. Judi has not heard from Global yet about their Campaign.
Happy sewing and quilting everyone. Often the little things like pillowcases can make a big difference!
