Community Service Update — November 2021

What a fall with our health care system in crisis! It finally looks like COVID-19 is giving us some relief and so we are planning to get together at the FFAA Studio Tuesday, November 9th and Tuesday, December 14th from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Our team will be sorting the donated fabric and sewing quilt tops. COVID-19 Restriction Exemption Program criteria apply.

This will also be a good time to pick up fabric and /or batting if you need it for your charity quilts and to drop off completed projects. I am also able to pick up quilts and drop off batting and fabric if needed.

One member mentioned that we have not had a focus on baby quilts for a while. The following two organizations are excellent choices.

  1. Basically Babies provides layettes for babies in extreme need.  They would love to accept receiving blankets and both baby and crib quilts. (basicallybabies.org)
  2. Terra Centre provides support for pregnant and parenting teens. They are putting together hampers for the families they are currently serving to give out in December. They would appreciate baby and crib quilts and larger quilts for siblings. www.terracentre.ca

Check out their websites for other items they need and what they do not accept.

Peace to you all! Stay safe!
