Community Service Update — October 2022

Hopefully by the time you read this newsletter the FFAA Studio will be almost ready.  To accommodate moving and organizing the new facility we moved the Community Service Sew Day to Monday, October 24.

In November and December, we will be back to the second Tuesday of the month which will be November 8th and December 13th.

October 24's event has been cancelled as the new studio is not ready yet.

This fall we have received a lot of quilt tops.  If you have strips of batting to donate, it would help us process all these tops without breaking our budget.   You may bring batting to the EDQG meeting, drop off at a sew day, or call me for pick up.  We have 6 quilts ready for quilting and are looking for volunteers.

Last month we sent 3 quilts to Sleep in Heavenly Peace (they have 150 children on their waiting list) and 6 quilts to St. Vincent De Paul Society.  We have a nice collection of baby/crib quilts which will go to Terra Center for the hampers they are giving to their clients in December, but we could still use more.

If you are interested in making quilts for Residential School Survivors check out this website for all the information on what they require. This not-for-profit organization was founded by Vanessa Genier. I know of at least one member who sent a quilt there last year and other members who are interested in participating in this worthy project.

Quilts make a difference!
