Community Service Update – October 2023
Author: Judi C, Chair, Community Service Committee
Here are some organizations to think about this fall for quilt donations:
Terra Centre: They give hampers to their clients in December (baby or crib size)
Blankets of Love: They require 550 quilts to deliver to mental health care patients in the hospital on Christmas Day (lap or twin size):
Northern Alberta Fire Victims: Carolyn Ross is storing them at her house until they are needed and a health care group servicing the area will distribute the quilts.
And of course, many other charities have clients in need.
If I do not have time to make a quilt, what can I do?
- Donate batting. Even those scrappy bits are much appreciated.
- Sew on a binding and label.
- Sew a quilt top.
- Drop in to a sew day to sort fabric, cut pieces for tops or backings, and join us for ice cream and a lot of laughter.
- We have lots of fabric, kits, and partially finished tops.
The next sew day is Tuesday, October 10th.
