Library Update –November 2023

As I write this Newsletter submission, the weather has turned cold and snowy, brrr.  My thoughts turn to my winter/Christmas projects.  Will I get the Christmas Presents Quilt finished for this holiday season?  Will I find the perfect red to finish the last border?

I will bring a selection of holiday themed books to our November meeting, plus our newly purchased books, and another book box from the storage locker.

Each month we bring a new box of books.  As we work alphabetically through the boxes, we are now on box #10, which has titles starting with the letter Q.

You can look at all the book titles on the EDQG website under Library.  You can also request any book from the storage locker by clicking on the “Shopping Cart” feature or contacting me via the library email.  Members can borrow up to five books for a one-month period.  If you are not finished with your book, you can renew it for another month.

If you can’t make a meeting to return your book, please contact me at library@edqg.ca so I can keep track of the library books.

For October our raffle books and winners were:

The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt, won by Carol J., green ticket #412430.

The Big Book of Quick-to-Finish Quilts, won by Diana S., green ticket #412463.

The raffle raised $152.00 to purchase raffle books and books for our library.

In November our raffle books are:

The Best of Jelly Roll Quilts, 25 Jelly Roll Patterns for Quick Quilting, by Pam & Nicky Lintott, David & Charles, 2023.  This UK mother and daughter duo have published thirteen books featuring jelly rolls, those wonderful 2 ½” rounds of forty fabulous fabrics!  This book highlights their favourite twenty-five patterns in beautiful fabrics and styles.

Quilt with Tula & Angela: A Start-to-Finish Guide to Piecing and Quilting Using Color and Shape: 17 Quilt Patterns and 47 Quilting Motifs, by Tula Pink and Angela Walters, Interweave, 2016.  Tula Pink, fabric pattern designer extraordinaire, and Angela Walters, the quilter who does the exceptional quilting on Tula’s quilts, have combined their talents to bring you this book.  Each chapter is divided by color with patterns and quilting choices included.  So inspiring!

Happy sewing!
