Information for New Members

Welcome to the Edmonton & District Quilter’s Guild!

We have a very exciting year ahead and are so glad you have joined.

In the interest of keeping everyone safe, we strongly encourage members and guests who attend EDQG activities in person to sanitize hands often and physically distance when possible. Masks are optional and can be worn at your discretion.

Hybrid Meetings

Our monthly meetings are held in a hybrid format; meaning you can attend ‘in person’ or via Zoom.  Two days before our meeting,  you will receive a Zoom link.  This link is for your use only and should not be forwarded to others. Should you be unable to attend in person, this is a great option.

Each month we send out a newsletter (Quilt Connections) via a link to your email which you will receive about a week before the meeting.

During our zoom meeting, after our speaker, we are hold a virtual show and tell.  We encourage everyone to forward their photos to:  showandtell@edqg.ca and take part in this enjoyable slide presentation.

Free Guest Pass

Keep in mind, that each member has one free guest pass per year.  Please consider using your pass to invite a fellow quilter to one of our meetings.  Notification of your guest must be made to membership@edqg.ca prior to the meeting to ensure they receive a zoom link.

Members’ Only Areas on Website

There are certain areas of the website that are only available to our members.  Please create an account on the website to access these areas.

To create an acount, please select “Create an Account”, found in the main menu and fill out the registration form.

Once you have completed the form, your account will be “pending” approval from the webmaster.  When the webmaster has approved the account, you will get an email letting you know.

Upon approval, come back to the website and click on “LOGIN” on the front page.  Once logged in, you will see a new members’ only menu (with a purple background) at the top of the page.  This menu has all the member only sections listed (like Admin for financials and minutes).

If you have any difficulty setting up an account, there are “How to” documents listed under the “Resources, Links and News” menu item.  You can also email the webmaster (webmaster@edqg.ca).

Members’ Only Facebook Page

Our guild also has an EDQG Members Only Facebook page which I recommend you join.  You will be admitted to the site by the moderator once you have been approved.  This is a wonderful resource for Guild and quilting related items, sharing ideas, quilt photos, etc.

Just search for EDQG to find both the public and private guild pages.

Virtual Sew Days!

Do you and a group of friends want to sew together virtually? The EDQG has a Zoom account that can be used to book an afternoon, an evening, a whole day. If you would like to use this benefit of guild membership, contact pastchair@edqg.ca.

Quilt Connections is Now Public

When you read the newsletter, you will notice that the surnames and phone numbers for the Board and Committee Chairs were not included.  It was a change initiated by the Board to address the difficulties that some members were experiencing when they wished to read the newsletter. For the past couple of years, members have needed to log in to the website to read the newsletter and for some members, this has been difficult.

The EDQG monthly newsletter, Quilt Connections, is now public and members no longer need to log-in to the website to read the newsletter. With this change however, the Board did not want its member’s surnames and phone numbers available to the public.

The Board also recognizes that there may be times when you need to contact a Board member or a Committee Chair by phone. You can find their phone numbers on the EDQG website under the Admin menu item.

Board Members and Committee Chairs is a list that includes their full names, EDQG email addresses, and personal phone numbers. Here is a link to that information:

*Please note: You will not be able to access the link unless you are logged in as a member to the EDQG website
