Bee Groups
Bee Groups give us the opportunity to connect in small groups with other like-minded quilters, and share learning experiences, and be inspired by each other.
If you would like to add a write up on a Bee Group that you are attending, please send it to webmaster@edqg.ca

EPP Bee Group
First Wednesday of the Month
1 pm
An English Paper Piecing bee group started meeting some time ago. We are meeting in person again. For more info contact Linda.
Coffee Bee Group
First Tuesday after the Guild Meeting
via Zoom
The Coffee Bee Group started out a few years ago meeting at a local coffee shop on the first Tuesday after the EDQG Guild Meeting. Currently, we are meeting by ZOOM, partially due to COVID-19 and partially due to the large size of our group now.
We “meet” to talk all things quilting. Each year, we select a quilt pattern and make a quilt to donate to the EDQG charity of choice. It is usually an easy to do pattern that doesn’t require buying any fabric, assuming you have a stash to draw from!
Best of all, this group is open to everyone and is “Drop-in” – so no commitment! New Guild members are always welcome! Please feel free to join us when and if you can.
If you have any questions, or would like the link, please contact Myrna P.
Nimble Thimbles
Every Second Wednesday
via Zoom
Collins English Dictionary defines appliqué as ornamentation, a cut-out design that is sewn on to or otherwise applied to a piece of material. We are a bee group dedicated to the art of hand appliqué.
Our meetings are informal and we each work on our own projects at our own pace. We share our work, ask for advice and provide advice when asked.
Currently we meet every second Wednesday via Zoom.
If you are interested in hand appliqué – beginner, experienced or anywhere in between – please contact Penny O for more information.
Stitching Connection
We have an exciting new schedule this year–even more opportunities to quilt, knit, crochet, and get together with friends, new and longtime!
Bring your machine if you want to sew, or bring a hand project of whatever type you wish, or just come and catch up.
We will ask for your email when you first come so that we can contact you if there is a change (e.g., the space is needed for a funeral).
Where: Mill Woods United Church, 15 Grand Meadow Crescent, Edm.
Questions: contact Ethel at stitchingconnection@edqg.ca
Please feel welcome to join in as often as you wish!
PS Bring an extension cord.
In addition to the bee groups listed above, who are open to new members, there is one additional long standing Bee Group made up of EDQG members.
Dixie's Chicks
Meets once a week
Virtually
This bee group is active year round. We have eleven amazing members and have been running for twenty years. We are not looking for new members at the moment. We do our own thing, sharing ideas and catching up on each other’s lives and quilting experiences. Now and then we participate in a challenge proposed by a member. We encourage each other and share knowledge and techniques. Once a year we have a retreat; we also celebrate Christmas in October just before the snow birds head south.
