Community Service Update – September 2024
Author: Judi C., Chair Community Service
The fun loving, hardworking Community Service Committee members had another excellent year making quilts and assisting members and non-members finish quilts. Our guild contributed around 300 quilts to various charities from September 2023-September 2024. That is a lot of comfort given.
The move to the new FFAA Studio and having storage space for our stash has greatly helped committee members organize and work on quilts. This space has given members a place to drop off completed quilts and pick up fabric and kits.
Another accomplishment this last year was developing relationships with other Quilting Guilds and quilting groups to share in large donations of sewing supplies and fabrics. We continue to receive calls from family members of quilters or quilters who are downsizing. We could not do all the work we have done without the donations.
We occasionally receive quilts that are of such excellent quality when finished that they would be a great silent auction item for charities that raise funds that way. If you know of such charities, please let us know.
Let me know if you wish to join us and if you have a charity you would like to contribute quilts to. The fabric stash can be used for any charity.
We will continue to meet on the second Tuesday of the month at the Focus on Fibre Arts Association (FFAA) Studio at 10554 – 110 Street NW.
