The Edmonton & District Quilters’ Guild very wisely started an Endowment Fund at the University of Alberta in Human Ecology.


The original Scholarship fund has since grown to include a second award for a grad student.




The two awards are the:

Edmonton and District QuiltersGuild Undergraduate Award 

Field of Study: Human Ecology 

Awarded annually to a student with satisfactory academic standing entering fourth year of the BSc in Human Ecology (Clothing, Textiles and Material Culture major). Recipient will be selected on the basis of academic standing (minimum GPA of 3.0) and a demonstrated interest in quilting. Preference will be given to a student in financial need. 

Award Value: 3200.00

EDQG Founders Graduate Scholarship 

Field of Study: Human Ecology 

Awarded annually to a student registered in a master’s degree program in the Department of Human Ecology whose research focus is in the area of Textiles and Apparel Science. Recipients will be selected on the basis of superior academic achievement (equivalent to a GPA of 3.5 or greater on the University of Alberta grading scale). Preference is given to students specializing in textile construction, textile history, textile standards or material culture utilizing the Clothing and Textiles Collection, including the Gloria and Alvin Rosenberg Collection. If there are no appropriate candidates in Textiles and Apparel Science, the scholarship will be awarded to students registered in a MSc or PhD program in the broader areas of Textiles and Clothing. Part- time students are eligible for this award. 

Award Value: 2,800.00
