Festival of Quilts 2025
Sept 2024
Mark your calendars for the EDQG Festival of Quilts 2025!
June 6th & 7th
We Need a Publicity Coordinator!
The Quilt Show Committee hosted its first meeting in July, introducing committee members, and reviewing position responsibilities based on a revised draft EDQG Quilters’ Guild Quilt Show Guide.
The Co-Chairs have implemented 10 Coordinator roles, and most have been filled. Needed still at this stage, is someone with social media experience to be our Publicity Coordinator, and someone to support our Judging Coordinator. We are in the process of adding some additional support positions to assist the coordinators to ensure appropriate knowledge and support for the role as well as to ensure continuity for future shows.
Please contact Melissa or Sharon if you have experience with either role and can assist now.
In the Future Volunteers Needed at the Show too!
Many more volunteers will be needed in the delivery of the show. Information on that will come in the new year
This Year our show will take place on Friday and saturday!
A reminder regarding the change in timing format, the 2025 show will be open to the public on Friday June 6th, and Saturday June 7th, 2025. Judging will occur beforehand.

Featured Quilter Nomination
It is time to gather nominations for the EDQG Featured Quilter to showcase their work at the 2025 Festival of Quilts. We are changing the process to make it simpler in the hope of receiving more nominations.
What is a Featured Quilter?
The EDQG Featured Quilter will have a special display area at our 2025 Festival of Quilts Show to showcase their amazing quilts and quilting related works. This guild member will serve as an ambassador for our Guild and will be available to speak with quilt show attendees.
Some of the characteristics you might consider about your Nominee:
- Regularly attends guild meetings, workshops and events
- Continually strives to learn new things and evolve as a quilter, whether within the guild or the larger quilting community
- Supports the Guild by active involvement in various activities
- Shares quilt knowledge and skills with others
- Stands out as a person we are proud to recognize as a quilter, friend, mentor, teacher and all-around good community member
Any other characteristics that you feel make them worthy recipients of this honour
How to put forward your nomination:
At the June banquet this year, there was an opportunity to nominate someone as the featured quilter. If you did not participate at that time, now is your chance to do so. Here is how you do it:
– Simply put forward the name of the EDQG guild member you feel should become the 2025 Featured Quilter.
HOW?
– Complete the Nomination slip at the September EDQG Guild meeting, in person OR
– Submit the name of your nominee by email to vicechair@edqg.ca .
You may nominate any current EDQG Guild member except those who have already been featured.
Those ineligible guild members are: Laurrie G., Lois M. and Kathy S.
Nominations will be tracked and the Quilt Show Committee will review nominations and determine who has received the greatest number of votes. The Featured Quilter nomination submission deadline is Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at noon. The guild member selected as the 2025 Featured Quilter will be announced at the October, 2024 EDQG meeting.
Our Guild has so many prolific and accomplished quilters. We are excited to receive nominations and find out who you have chosen to represent the EDQG at the 2025 Festival of Quilts.
Thank you on behalf of the 2025 EDQG Festival of Quilts Committee.

Quilt Show 50/50 Fundraiser is Back!
Plans for the 2025 Festival of Quilts are well under way and with that comes fundraising. As you know, it is costly to put on a quilt show so we will be running several 50/50 draws to raise funds to offset the costs associated with holding the quilt show.
Our last Raffle raised $905.70. Thank you to all who supported our fundraising efforts.
All funds raised from the 50/50 raffles will be used to offset the cost of the facility rental for our quilt show.
Please check the EDQG website banner for the link to purchase your tickets. Best of luck to all.
