Mission Possible

The 45th Anniversary Committee as part of the Edmonton and District Quilters’ Guild is excited to announce a year-long project that all EDQG members can be a part of, in person or via social media, regardless of skill level, with any time commitment, and using projects you really meant to finish anyway!

What is EDQG45?

It’s like bingo, but you fill in your own card with projects or ideas you’ve been wanting to work on or start.

Three EDQG45 squares will be announced at each monthly meeting, shared on the website, and on Facebook.

Your mission is to tackle those three tasks on those particular squares you have placed on your card.

This challenge will take place from September 2024 to June 1st 2025.

What Qualifies for a square on the EDQG45 card?

Any quilt, quilt activity, needlework, or other fibre arts project which you have begun, or want to begin, including planning or materials-buying, which you have not yet completed. New Starts are Welcome!
If the project is large or time-consuming, it may be divided into stages – set your own project goals for each square.
The centre square of everyone’s card is designated as a free 45th Anniversary square.

Prizes Categories:

Completion of all projects on a horizontal line
Completion of all projects on a vertical line
Completion of all projects on a diagonal line
Completion of all projects listed on the card

Suggested EDQG45 Squares Include:

Any unfinished projects you have on the go
Organize your stash
Participate in a class
Project from magazine or pattern
Participate in a charity project
Attend a community service sew day
Complete the Prairie Rose Challenge
Stitch in public

Enter a quilt in a quilt show
Attend a shop hop
Watch the slow stitching demo before an EDQG meeting
Complete a paper pieced quilt
Try English Paper piecing
Complete a pin cushion or needle book for the guild exchange

How do I Participate?

Print off the template/card and fill in ALL the squares BEFORE the October meeting. Each square should contain only one project.
Email a picture of your filled out template/card to 45@edqg.ca before the October Meeting.
Anyone can play along, but only EDQG members are eligible for draws.
An eligible EDQG45 square is one that has been called at a meeting. You may also check the EDQG website and Facebook Page for the squares that have been called.

How to Win:

When you complete a category (line or full card), send photos of both your EDQG45 game card AND pictures verifying completion of each square in the category to 45@edqg.ca.
(For example, submit 5 pictures for each of the 5 projects that match the 5 horizontal squares for the horizontal line category.)
Please include title and designer credit if applicable.
Everyone who completes and turns in their pictures for each category will have their names put in a draw.

For inclusion in the prize draws, EDQG45 photos will be accepted until June 1st, 2025

Prizes will be drawn and awarded at the banquet on the 16th of June 2025.

Winners do not need to present at the banquet, but they must be members in good standing at the time of the draw.
