We Need Your Help!

Have you taken a workshop from FFAA in the past year?

It is once again time to consider the future of the Focus on Fibre Art Association.

We have scheduled February 17th, 2025, for the Annual General Meeting. We need members to step forward into the positions of President and Treasurer. Our Vice-president has taken on the task of Webmaster and does not wish to take on the president role currently.

We have enjoyed a great variety of wonderful workshops over the past two years, as well as a fantastic exhibition and competition this past summer. We are truly blessed to be able to receive funds from AGLC to fund these endeavors, plus give us a space to work on our various fibre arts. Many, many of you have enjoyed these benefits. Have your taken a workshop from FFAA in the past year?

BUT,

Four years ago we came close to dissolving FFAA because we needed executive members. That could happen if we don’t have people step forward. There are lots of members continuing in positions of support to help with the task.

President

  • The president serves two years and is responsible, with the secretary, in preparing the agenda for the meetings.
  • They are also an ex-official member of all committees and can attend those meetings if necessary.
  • They also assist in jurying the competition.

Treasurer

  • The treasurer also serves 2 years and receives all monies paid to FFAA and deposits them in the appropriate accounts in the designated financial institution.
  • They review requests for reimbursement in accordance with the budget and board direction an arranges payment.
  • They prepare the books and records and a fully detailed account of the receipts and disbursements to the audit committee at the end of the fiscal year.
  • They complete the financial report required by AGLC.
  • They are chair of the Finance Committee and help prepare the budget for the upcoming year.

These positions may, as stated in our Bylaws, serve 2 consecutive terms.

We also need a small group of people to begin planning for the Competition/Exhibition for 2026.

A list of steps has been drafted for a committee to follow.

Please consider putting your name forward for any of these positions.

Our monthly meetings are always on Zoom and take place on the third Monday of each month.
