Édith Choinière is a Quebec-based quilt designer, textile artist, and educator whose creative journey spans more than four decades. Her passion for quilting began at the age of ten and took root in 1984, when she learned traditional quilting techniques while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Her artistic path broadened in the early 1990s during a posting to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, where she began exhibiting oil paintings and teaching art classes. During this period, she received formative instruction in Indigenous arts from an Algonquin woman and her Lakota Sioux husband, an experience that deeply enriched her artistic perspective and influenced the direction of design work.

Returning to Quebec in 1996, Édith sought new creative challenges and discovered the innovative designs of Pam Bono. In 2008, Édith launched her own creative enterprise, COLLECTION INÉDITH, a name inspired by the French word inédite, reflecting the originality and uniqueness that define her work.

She has won multiple awards for her work, and has published 60+ quilting and textile art pattern books and tutorials, lectured and taught workshops across Canada.

Édith’s signature style emerged in 2016, blending her painter’s eye with her mastery of textile techniques. As she describes in her résumé, “Fabric has become my medium and the needle is my brush.”  Her work is celebrated for its originality, precision and emotional resonance.
