Library Update – January 2026

Author: Sandra P.,
Library Chair

As we head into the New Year 2026, are you trying to finish off projects that didn’t get completed for Christmas giving, or are you starting new projects? Or, like me, were you thinking of finishing a project, and before you could say “squirrel”, a new project caught your eye!  Whether you are trying out a new skill, or wondering what to do with those 2 ½” scraps, take a look at the books on offer for our January book raffle for inspiration:

Applique: The Basics and Beyond, 2nd Revised & Expanded Edition, by Janet Pittman, Landauer Publishing, 2019.  Everything you wanted to know about applique.  Purchased at Quilter’s Dream, Southside location.  We have the first edition in the EDQG Library.

Roll with the Classics: 14 Popular Quilt Patterns Made Easy with Jelly Rolls, by Jean Ann Wright, Landauer Publishing, 2023.  Lots of inspiration for using 2 ½” strips!  Purchased at Quilter’s Dream, Southside location.  We have a copy in the library.

The book raffle proceeds go to purchase new books for the library and raffle books.  In November we raised $231.00!  Thank you for your support.  Time to go shopping!

“Sewing is a way to mark our existence on cloth: patterning our place in the world, voicing our identity, sharing something of ourselves with others,  and leaving the indelible evidence of our presence in stitches held fast by our touch.”

– Claire Hunter – Threads of Life: A History of the World Through the Eye of a Needle, 2019.

For the January meeting we will be bringing the second book bin with book titles starting with the letter ‘Q’, plus a selection of donated books that have been added to our library collection.

For a complete listing of our library books, look at our library catalogue on the EDQG website under Library.  You can request a book by logging into the website and clicking on the Shopping Cart feature.  The books requested will be brought to the next guild meeting.  If you are not attending in person, arrangements can be made to get the books to you.
