Description
Author: Victoria Faoro
This book grew out of the 1997 Museum of the American Quilters Society’s contest, which required entrants to make a quilt based on the traditional Mariner’s Compass pattern. This challenging pattern requires accurate drafting of the points of the compass. As these points often number 32 in a single compass, using the block in an innovative contemporary quilt provided a considerable challenge to the 18 finalists whose work in included in the book. Full-color photographs of each quilt along with the quilters’ own comments on the creative process make this title of interest not only to quilt lovers but also to aspiring quiltmakers. Also included are full-size templates for Mariner’s Compass blocks in a variety of sizes. Recommended for quilting collections.
